With over 15 years working experience in the local and global ICT sector, Brian is a software and systems engineer with large scale digital transformation expertise. He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT ‘09) where he obtained his Masters in Technology and Policy in the Engineering Systems Division. He was the Dean Scholar at Strathmore University where he obtained his bachelor’s degree (Hons.) in Business Information Technology. He is also currently a doctoral candidate in Computer Science at the University of Nairobi (ecosystem driven data modelling) where he has also been a part-time lecturer in the Design and Analysis of Algorithms as well as Innovation Studies.
He has reviewed and formulated technology policy curricula for universities and leaders in the ICT sector both in Kenya and Africa. He is an inventor with several publications and seven (7) software patents.
He is currently the team lead at the Tech Innovators Network (Ltd) that has developed an open-integrated-collaborative platform styled as the “Digital Business Hub” (in conjunction with the KEPSA), which is a useful online resource and support center, serving through a one-stop unified window, the needs of innovators and the business community in their digital transformation journey (
http://think.ke). He also founded the Tech Innovators Sacco for the support of youth innovators.
Brian is a Software & Systems Engineer specializing in large scale projects. He has previously worked at PwC, Microsoft, and Nokia Research. He was the lead ICT Enterprise Architect for the award-winning Kenya Health Sector Enterprise Architecture and the Kenya Government Wide ICT Enterprise Architecture. He has active participation within the local ICT sector, such as being the Technical Committee Chair of the Software, Systems Engineering, ITSM (IT Service Management) and AI (Artificial Intelligence) at the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS); He was also the Technical Committee Chair of the Innovation-Driven Entrepreneurship Pillar of the Kenya Digital Economy Blueprint Taskforce; among others.
He holds various advisory roles and sits on the boards of Ecobank Kenya, Pacis Insurance and the Business Registration Service (State Corporation. He is currently the Vice Chair of the ICT sector board at the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA).
Brian is a family man with two young daughters who drive his love for the role of youth and women in technology. He is a very passionate lawn tennis player. He also plays guitar and has been a member of a local band.
